About

Lauren began her costume and millinery career in Melbourne, after training in costume at Swinburne University, and millinery at the Melbourne School of Fashion. An eighteen month stint at The Australian Ballet and three consecutive seasons of Melbourne Cup headwear at The Essential Hat in Prahran set her up for working in London. She worked until 2013 for leading milliner Philip Treacy, and worked as a freelancer for another London milliner, Jane Taylor.

She began giving millinery workshops and demonstrations upon request of her first tutor, Louise Macdonald in Melbourne. She has also been a guest tutor in the studios of Jane Stoddart (Sydney) and Sandy Aslett (Queensland), as well as that of Sue Drerup of The Essential Hat in Melbourne.

In 2013 she moved to Nottingham and completed the final year in the BA(Hons) Costume Design and Making course at Nottingham Trent University.

In 2021 she completed an MA by Research at the University of Huddersfield, on the topic of millinery and milliners in 1830s England.
